Admissions Information
Admissions to the school are managed by North Yorkshire Council in line with the School Admissions Code and Fair Access Protocols. This applies to places when children would normally start school (the Reception year) and to children who may join the school after this time (for example, as the result of a house move).
Published Admission Number
The planned number of places (PAN) for Reception in the coming September is 30.
School Admission Arrangements 2027/28
In accordance with our statutory duty under The School Admissions (Admission Arrangements and co-ordination of Admission Arrangements) (England) Regulation 2012, North Yorkshire Council have consulted on proposed school admission arrangements for community and voluntary controlled schools for 2027/28.
The Admission Arrangements for 2027/28 were determined by the Council on the 13th February 2026.

Voluntary Aided, Foundation, Academy, UTC and Free Schools
The determination of admission arrangements for Voluntary Aided, Foundation, Academy, UTC and Free Schools is the responsibility of the schools’ governing bodies as the admission authority for the school. Any comments relating to a Voluntary Aided, Foundation, Academy, UTC or Free Schools should be addressed directly to the school in question.

In-year admissions
Local Authority’s Co-ordinated Admission Scheme
Forest of Galtres participates in the Local Authority’s Co-ordinated Admission Scheme for in-year admissions. If parents/carers wish to apply for a school place, applications can be made at https://www.york.gov.uk/SchoolAdmissions via the ParentPortal. The Local Authority will confirm the outcome of the application in writing within 15 school days.
If the application is refused, the Local Authority will advise on the statutory appeal procedure. Details of the Co-ordinated Admission Scheme and how in-year applications are managed are available at https://www.york.gov.uk/SchoolAdmissions.
North Yorkshire Council - School transport
North Yorkshire Council provide free school transport from the nearest school to your home if it is over the walking distances set out by law.

Appeals
The Heartwood Learning Trust Board have determined their admissions arrangements for the academic year.
Following determination of arrangements, any objections to those arrangements must be made to the Schools Adjudicator. Objections to admission arrangements must be referred to the Schools Adjudicator by 15th May in the determination year.
