Welcome

Welcome to our wonderful school, Forest of Galtres Anglican Methodist Primary School, where every child is valued, nurtured and inspired to thrive.

Our vision of being rooted and grounded in love for all is central to school life. It guides our relationships, our curriculum and our approach to personal development. By nurturing children spiritually, academically and emotionally, we aim to enrich their lives, helping them grow strong roots of compassion, curiosity and resilience, and giving them the courage to reach outwards as compassionate, responsible citizens of the future.

We are deeply committed to nurturing every child as they grow and flourish throughout their time in school. Our staff work closely together to create a rich, stimulating and supportive learning environment, shaped by our school vision and underpinned by our core values of Care, Creativity, Courage, Collaboration and the Christian Faith.

As the only Anglican Methodist primary school in North Yorkshire, our distinctive ethos shines through in all that we do. We place an exceptionally high value on care – care for one another, for ourselves, and for the wider world. This strong foundation allows children to feel safe, valued and encouraged to take risks in their learning.

We celebrate the uniqueness of every child, recognising that each one brings their own gifts, interests and perspectives. Through personalised support, inclusive practices and opportunities to shine, we help children develop confidence in who they are and who they can become.

At Forest of Galtres, we strive not only to educate but to inspire, ensuring that every child feels loved, supported and empowered to flourish.

Welcome from our Chair of Governors

Welcome to our wonderful community at Forest of Galtres Anglican Methodist Primary School!

As a governing body we are a passionate and dedicated team of volunteers committed to working closely with the school to ensure your children receive the best education in a nurturing and safe environment that will give them the tools and experiences to thrive in life.

We seek to encourage and challenge leadership in the school, provide guidance on strategic direction and see that objectives are being met, and ensure money is being well spent, all driven by our vision of “being rooted and grounded in love” for all as demonstrated by Jesus in the Bible. As a strategic, non-operational role, some areas we collaborate with are safeguarding, quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, attendance, personal development, leadership and management, early years education, SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) support and Christian distinctiveness.

We meet formally as a team four times a year as well as visiting the school throughout the year and speaking with staff, children, parents, other members of Heartwood Learning Trust and members of the local community. We are also involved with representing and supporting our school in Ofsted (Office for Standards in Education) and SIAMS (Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools) inspections.

As a parent myself, it encourages me to know the care and love given to every child at Forest of Galtres no matter what their background, interests or gifts, by a wonderful team of staff who regularly go above and beyond, always pushing forward despite the national challenges in the educational sector. Our core values of Care, Creativity, Courage, Collaboration and Christian Faith positively shape every day and every child at the school. Hannah Holmes has transformed our school over the past few years and I’ve been privileged to see that first-hand and work closely with her and the team to support the vision and values which put every child first, always.
